Canon PowerShot A580 Digital Camera Review

Canon PowerShot A580 Review

Give all of your pictures breathtaking details and vivid colors with the new Canon PowerShot A580. Canon is known for excellence in the photography industry because they only provide quality cameras that give excellent pictures.

This new digital camera by Canon has got an 8 megapixel CCD that captures stunning pictures full of detail and colors. With an image of this magnitude, you can enlarge them to poster sized prints, or crop in deep so that you can grab exactly what you wanted out of the picture.

Canon didn’t just give you a great CCD without pairing it up with a great lens. On the Canon PowerShot A580 you have a compact 4x optical/4x digital zoom that allows you to get close to whatever it is that you want to shoot. Compared to the average 3x optical zoom that many other manufactures provide, the Canon PowerShot A580 is a deal for offering even greater zoom capabilities.

Don’t take pictures blindly. This new Canon camera gives you a 2.5 inch LCD screen so that you can see all of your pictures before hand so that you know whether or not you need to retake them. If you have to retake them because of lighting issues or you just want different colors expressed in the photo, try enabling one of the many shooting modes. Shooting modes on the Canon PowerShot A580 include Auto, Landscape, Easy, Camera M, Portrait, Special Scene, Indoor, Night Snapshot, Kids & Pets and Movie mode. Get some help with your pictures by using these features, you won’t regret it. We also noticed that there are some scene modes to choose from as well. Scene modes include Foliage, Beach, Sunset, Fireworks, Snow, Night Scene and Aquarium. These modes will adjust the picture coloring and give you more vibrant pictures. Other shooting modes that we were impressed with and that will give you great detailed shots are the sepia, neutral, black and white or vivid coloring options.

Face detection is becoming standard on all digital cameras which is great! Unfortunately Image Stabilization isn’t a standard yet. The Canon PowerShot A580 does not have image stabilization technology so when taking photographs, you need to be extra steady.

Besides a couple minor setbacks, the Canon PowerShot A580 is a great camera for just laying around the house or an inspiring photographer. Its going to give you what you want, but don’t expect anything too fancy. Upgrading to the A720 or even one of the new SX models would be suggested if your really wanting to get a feature packed camera.
